Our history

Picture the wharf before the cards arrived

How a weighing shed on the Wimmera ended up with five tables of cards where the wheat sacks used to sit.

A short account

Start with 1924, then follow it forward

Weatherboard front of the old grain store

The store went up in 1924 to weigh grain bound for barges working the Wimmera wharf just below Firebrace Street.

River trade had thinned by the time the Marlobayco charter was taken up in 1958, and the first table went down on the same weighing floor that season.

  • 1924

The grain store is built for the Wimmera wharf trade.

  • 1958

The Marlobayco charter is taken up on the same floor.

  • Now

Five tables, one dealer most nights, tea on the counter.
